MARTIN ELEMENTARY EARLY DISMISSAL AT 11:30; BUSES TO FOLLOW PARENT PICK UP AT CCHS

With student and staff safety as an utmost priority, all at Martin Elementary were evacuated to CCHS this morning while a potential gas leak was detected and diagnosed.  With the diagnosis ongoing, Martin Elementary students are being dismissed from the CCHS auditorium at 11:30 a.m.

 

Communication has been ongoing from both the district and school to parents and guardians via ParentSquare.  We have asked those picking up students to remain in their vehicles upon arriving at CCHS as buses will follow parent pickup.  Martin Elementary has also sent detailed communication to the parents and guardians of students.

 

UPDATE by Roane County Emergency Alerts:

Cumberland County Schools is dismissing classes for the rest of the day at Martin Elementary at 1130 AM. There was a suspected gas leak at the school this morning that prompted a brief evacuation. This early dismissal ONLY applies to Martin Elementary School.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Emergency crews are at Martin Elementary School for a reported smell of natural gas in the building. At this time students have been evacuated from Martin Elementary and they are being relocated to CCHS. – From: CCCEMA
