Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said deputies arrested a man last night on two warrants for rape of a child. Officers say 35-year-old Leslie Elton Obanion of Coker Road in Maryville is in custody in the Blount County Correctional Facility. Obanion is being held on bonds totaling $1 million pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. October 18, 2019. Sheriff’s office investigators took over the case that was started by the Alcoa Police Department after it was determined that Obanion committed the crimes at residences in Blount County. Obanion allegedly admitted to investigators that between November 2018 and September 2019, he sexually molested two male juveniles, ages 10 and 11. The boys are not related to Obanion.
