MAYOR DECLARES ROCKWOOD IN NO HURRY TO HIRE NEW PARKS DIRECTOR
Rockwood Mayor Mike Miller announced during a recent city council meeting the city is in no hurry to hire a full time parks director for now. The vacancy opened up when Chase Clem resigned last month to take the same position with the City of Kingston.
The mayor stated the committee formed to find a new director agreed to leave that position open and hire another full-time position for the Parks and Recreation department.
“You’ll see that in the upcoming budget. That’s where we’re going right now and stay with an interim director,” Miller said. “We’ll take another look at it after baseball is over.”
The decision to not fill the director position came up during a discussion about the department at last Monday’s Rockwood City Council meeting.
The City of Harriman is also looking for a new Parks and Rec. director, now that former director Allen Hickman departed unexpectedly two weeks ago. Hickman said he felt that job was taking too much of his time from family and his church to continue. The city is still seeking to fill that position as well.
