MAYORS PROCLAIM APRIL AS CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS AND PREVENTION MONTH
Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster and Crossville Mayor James Mayberry signed a proclamation declaring April as “Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention” month.
It reads as follows:
WHEREAS, nearly 700,000 children are abused in the U.S. every year; and
WHEREAS, children are our most valuable asset and are vital to our community’s future; and
WHEREAS, all children deserve to have safe, stable, nurturing homes, and communities to foster their healthy growth and development; and
WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect are a community responsibility affecting both the current and future quality of the life of a community; and
WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention strategies succeed because of partnerships created among citizens, human service agencies, schools, faith communities, health care providers, civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the business community.
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that I, Allen Foster, Cumberland County Mayor and I, James Mayberry, City of Crossville Mayor, do hereby proclaim April as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month.
