McLEAN CHARGED FOR BRINGING DRUGS INTO A PENAL INSTITUTION

Friday afternoon, before Roane County deputies brought 27-year-old Daniel Ray McLean into the detention center, they asked him whether he had anything on him that could poke, prick or stick them, or if he had any drugs on or in him. He said he did not. Deputies advised if he entered the interlock with anything, he would be charged with a felony. He again denied having anything on him. The Rockwood police officer who brought McLean in reiterated if he had anything on him, it would be better to give it up before entering the jail, and get a lesser charge. He again insisted he didn’t have anything on him.

The officer indicated McLean might have something in his pants, so deputies conducted a strip search.

The report states after McLean removed his pants, “his hands went to the back of his underwear and started to mess with something or push something into his rectum.”

Deputies retrieved a small baggie with just over half a gram of a white powdery substance believed to be meth.

In addition to driving on expired plates, driving on a revoked or suspended license, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of simple possession or casual exchange, tampering with or fabricating evidence and manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth, McLean was charged with introduction of contraband into a penal facility.
