MEDIC ISSUES ALERT FOR CRITICALLY LOW INVENTORIES OF O-NEGATIVE BLOOD
MEDIC Regional Blood Center has issued an urgent alert due to critically low inventories of O Negative blood, with less than a three-day supply remaining, and low levels of O Positive blood, with less than a five-day supply. The sharp increase in demand for these blood types over the past week has prompted an immediate call for eligible donors, particularly those with O Negative and O Positive blood, to donate as soon as possible at any MEDIC donor center or mobile drive.
As an incentive, successful O Negative and O Positive donors will receive a $25 e-gift card. While appointments are encouraged and can be scheduled online at www.medicblood.org, through the MEDIC app, or by calling 865-524-3074, walk-ins are also welcome, and donors can complete the pre-donation questionnaire in advance at www.medicpass.org.
MEDIC serves as the primary blood product provider for 25 hospitals and air medical services across 23 counties, including Blount Memorial, Covenant Health System, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Tennova Healthcare, and UT Medical Center.
