Early last night, Roane County deputies and medics responded to an incident at a welding shop outside Rockwood on Roane State Highway.

EMA Director Tim Suter says a 30-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Suter said the shooting was accidental.

The injured man was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.

His name was not initially released.
