MISSING MAN, JAMES GRAVES, FOUND DECEASED

Crossville, TN – The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office regrets to announce that Mr. James C. Graves, age 84, who was reported missing in April of this year, has been located deceased.
On September 24, 2025, skeletal remains believed to be Mr. Graves were discovered in a remote wooded area in the Luminary Mountain region of Bledsoe County. Following recovery efforts, the Tennessee Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville has positively identified Mr. Graves through dental records.
Sheriff Casey Cox, along with the entire staff of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, extends their deepest condolences to the Graves family during this difficult time. “Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of Mr. Graves,” said Sheriff Cox. “This is not the outcome any of us hoped for when this investigation began. We want the Graves family to know they have our prayers and support as they grieve this loss.”
The Sheriff’s Office also extends its gratitude to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Bledsoe County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol Aviation, Cumberland County Rescue Squad, and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, who assisted in the extensive search efforts since Mr. Graves was first reported missing.
