MONTEREY POLICE ARREST WANTED FELON ON STOLEN MOTORCYCLE
James Belcher was involved in an incident with Monterey Police Officers at approximately 3:45 pm on S Holly St at the Convenience Mart. The encounter began casually, but Belcher soon attempted to flee. Officers pursued and successfully apprehended him.
During the arrest, authorities discovered that Belcher was operating a stolen motorcycle and had a stolen license plate. He was also in possession of a bag of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia (a pipe), and what initially appeared to be a pistol but was later confirmed to be a realistic-looking BB gun. Additionally, he had outstanding warrants from multiple states.
Belcher was transported to the Putnam County Jail, where he was booked on several charges, including Felony Fugitive from Justice (held without bond), Theft/Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Theft/Possession of a Stolen License Plate, Tampering with Evidence, Manufacture/Delivery/Sale/Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting Arrest, Driving on a Suspended License, Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Removal of a Registration Decal. His total bond was set at $78,000, excluding the no-bond fugitive hold.
