A Grand Jury in Morgan County has raised concerns about the Sunbright Police Department’s operations as well as County Executive Don Edward’s actions that could be in direct opposition to the state’s Sunshine Law. Because of the allegations against the SPD, the Grand Jury has requested they be provided information on city officers, procedures for property seizures, policies toward the department’s mutual cooperation with the county sheriff’s department, along with other information. That information has been asked to be submitted on or before Aug. 15, 2017. Accusations have also been made against County Executive Edwards, who chairs the county commission. He is accused of guiding certain commissioner’s actions concerning making motions, and how to vote in order to get certain people onto boards or committees. Some of Edward’s emails allegedly addressing such subjects are included in the report.
