A Morgan County man who was the victim of a horrific kidnap plot is safe. Authorities say that 54-year-old Ray Avril Daughtery was kidnapped Tuesday, Feb. 7 and driven to the Citizen’s First bank in Oliver Springs in an attempt to draw out money from the victim’s account. After the attempt failed, the suspects, Eric W. Turner and Terry Lee Hall, drove Daughtery to another branch of the bank located in Morgan County. At some point, the victim was beaten because witnesses said that he walked into the bank with a bloody nose. But during his visit, Daughtery was able to slip a teller a paper with the word “help” scrawled on it. 911 Dispatch was alerted with both Wartburg Police and Morgan County Deputies responding. Both Turner and Hall were taken into custody. Daughtery was not seriously injured.
