MOST OF CITY OF CROSSVILLE WITHOUT POWER
Most residents of the City of Crossville awoke to no power on Sunday morning due to one of the main sub-stations going offline. Many people who neighbor the Highway 70 East Sub-Station reported seeing an explosion in the station between 4-5 AM sending the city into darkness. 1057 News talked to Volunteer Energy’s Bobby Randolph, who said that a transformer malfunctioned at the station. Crews immediately were on the job and were able to get power to emergency locations such as Cumberland Medical Center. Power was also re-connected to the Crab Orchard and Lanatana Sub-Stations. Randolph says that they are working on establishing to get power back online by early Sunday afternoon, which he hopes will be around 2 PM. Until then, most of the downtown area will be without power. Remember when coming to an intersection where stop lights are inoperable, treat the intersection as a four-way stop. 1057 News will have more information as it’s made available.
