MOTION FILED ASKING JUDGE TO DECLARE NOSTROM INCOMPETENT IN DOUBLE MURDER CASE

Court officials say a Cumberland County judge will hear a request from a defense attorney tomorrow (Thursday, May 20, 2021) regarding his client who is charged with double first-degree murder.

Warren John Nostrom, age 75, is accused of fatally shooting 58-year-old Joy Nostrom and 54-year-old Mark Gunter in the parking lot of the school bus garage on Genesis Road in Crossville back in September 2018. Warren Nostrom then reportedly tried to shoot himself in the head but survived.

The motion filed by his attorney, Howard Upchurch, is asking the judge to rule his client incompetent and the charges be dismissed.

A follow-up story will be done tomorrow after the judge makes his decision.
