MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT LEADS TO SEX OFFENDER VIOLATION

Crossville city officers responded to a vehicle accident on Waterview Drive on Sunday. When speaking with the driver, he stated his front wheel had gone into the ditch while he was trying to turn around in the driveway.  A check through dispatch informed the officer that 51-year-old James Scott Durham was a registered sex offender and the vehicle he was driving was not listed on his vehicles for the sex offender registry. He also had an outstanding warrant out of White County.

While placing Mr. Durham in custody he was yelling and thrashing around in the back seat of the patrol unit. When officers opened the door, Durham stated he could not breathe. He was removed from the vehicle and placed on the ground. Officers noted it looked like he appeared to start having a seizure and EMS was called. He was then transported to CMC for medical treatment. After he is released from medical care he will be served a warrant for violation of the sex offender registry.
