MOTORIST ARRESTED AFTER GOING WRONG WAY ON MAIN STREET IN CROSSVILLE

Crossville police were called to intercept a driver going the wrong way last night around 6:30 p.m. on North Main Street in between the interstate and Northside Drive. Dispatch advised officers that the vehicle turned around and was heading south. Police tried to pull over 69-year-old Bertha Jane Ernst of St. Petersburg, Florida near McDonalds but she reportedly continued and stopped in the roadway on Main Street in front of the bakery. The arrest report states an officer asked Ernst if she was traveling the wrong way on Main Street and she stated yes. Ernst reportedly failed a sobriety test and was charged with DUI.
