MULTI-FATALITY VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA CLAIMS LIFE OF CUMBERLAND COUNTIAN

The Florida Highway Patrol says a vehicle accident Friday on State Road 85 south of Crestview claimed the lives of five individuals, including one from Cumberland County, Tennessee. An 8-year-old boy was the sole survivor and was injured in the crash.

Troopers say a sedan carrying two women ages 39 and 49 from Crestview, a 58-year-old from DeFuniak Springs and a 32-year-old from Crossville, Tennessee veered off the roadway and crossed the center median. The sedan went into northbound traffic resulting in a head on collision. All four died and the 8-year-old was in the vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 19-year-old from Crestview, also suffered fatal injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol will not release the names of any of the individuals involved. The accident remains under investigation. The reason the sedan left its lane has not yet been determined.
