MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH ON I-40 NEAR KINGSTON

On Interstate 40 eastbound in Roane County, a multi-vehicle crash was reported at 12:53 PM Central Time on September 26, 2025, precisely at mile marker 357, leading to immediate traffic disruptions in the area near Kingston and Oak Ridge. This incident has partially blocked the eastbound left lane out of the two available lanes, along with the adjacent left shoulder, forcing vehicles to merge into the remaining right lane and creating potential backups for eastbound motorists traveling toward Knoxville.

Emergency responders from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and local authorities are on scene to investigate and clear debris.

This has resulted in congestion building up approximately three miles upstream at mile marker 354, near Kingston. Drivers approaching from the west may encounter reduced speeds or volume-related delays extending potentially several miles westward.

Travelers are advised to consider alternate routes like U.S. Route 70.
