MULTIPLE CHARGES AFTER MAN EVADES DEPUTIES ON PEAVINE ROAD

Cumberland County, TN- On March 19th, a Fairfield Glade deputy observed a vehicle traveling south on Peavine Road in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed. The deputy turned around and attempted to catch up to the vehicle. He then notified dispatch of a reckless driver and was inbound toward the city of Crossville. The deputy then saw the vehicle turn onto Cherry Branch Road and turn into a driveway. The driver, later identified as 36-year-old Kevin Ray, exited the vehicle and ran west toward Peavine Road.

Left inside the vehicle, was a female passenger who allegedly told the deputy that Kevin was traveling around 70 mph and had been drinking alcohol. When he passed the deputy, he decided to speed up. In the vehicle was a pint container of whiskey that was half empty located on the driver’s floorboard. A minor was also in the backseat of the vehicle.

The Cumberland County deputies assisted Fairfield in the capture of the intoxicated suspect. A deputy had walked down the wood line and located Mr. Ray on the back side of a brush pile.

Kevin Ray was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Endangerment, Driving on revoked/Suspended license, and Evading Arrest.
