MURDER SUSPECTS IN DIFFERENT CASES APPEAR IN CRIMINAL COURT

Five of six suspects charged with murder in different cases all appeared in Cumberland County Criminal Court today. All were reset to a future date this morning mainly because of the backlog of cases from the pandemic. They include:

20-year-old Robert David Morse – accused of the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Matthew Musser at a home on September 26, 2020. Musser passed away from multiple gunshot wounds. After hearing an update, the next court date was set for Morse for May 14, 2021.

33-year-old Rony Noe Ambrocio Cruz – His wife, Sante Ceciliar Mendez, was found deceased in a wooded area near Village Lane in August 2020. Officers later reportedly found evidence Cruz was allegedly responsible for her death. Cruz will appear again in court April 12, 2021.

38-year-old Thomas Mack Arnold, Sr. – charged with the fatal shooting of 63-year-old Billy Ray Jones at a residence on Christian Road on September 27, 2020. Arnold fled the scene and was stopped before sunrise the next day in south Georgia. He was extradited back to Cumberland County. Arnold was given his next court date today of May 14, 2021.

59-year-old Diana Lynn Grosso – charged with second-degree murder. Grosso allegedly provided a substance containing fentanyl to 58-year-old Julia Meade of Crossville in July 2018. The victim later passed away reportedly from toxic levels of the drug. In court today, the judge set her next court date of April 23, 2021.

33-year-old John Michael Poss – charged with the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Austin Shane Lewis at a home on Neverfail Road in September 2020. His next court date is set for April 23, 2021.

Court officials say the only murder suspect that did not appear in person was 42-year-old Jude Rod Pennington. His attorney appeared on his behalf and filed a waiver of appearance for his client. Pennington was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury for first-degree murder. The charge is based on a November 2019 incident where 39-year-old Travis Allon Sinard of Crossville was fatally shot after a domestic altercation on Colby Circle in the Rinnie area. Today, the judge set the next court date for Pennington of April 23, 2021.
