MURFREESBORO COUPLE INDICTED AFTER BABY SUFFERS MULTIPLE FRACTURES

A couple in Murfreesboro face charges after their baby reportedly suffered more than 10 fractures. Officers say 21-year-old Dequavion Wilburn and 18-year-old Darla Stewart were charged with aggravated child abuse, neglect and endangerment. The investigation started when their son was admitted to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in October. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said he was diagnosed with more than 10 fractures to his ribs and all four extremities that were in multiple stages of healing. Authorities say the baby was placed in custody of the Department of Children’s Services the day he was admitted to the hospital but his parents were allowed a recent supervised visit with him. Following the visit, detectives say a bruise was found on his shin, one that medical staff determined was inflicted on him. The couple is scheduled to appear in court June 29, 2020.
