A mystery barrel found near the Rockwood/Harriman exit on I-40 in Roane County late last night resulted in several emergency agencies responding to the scene. The initial call reported a barrel on the interstate. A trooper arrived within minutes and rolled the barrel off the interstate. Crews from the Harriman Fire Department and the Roane County Emergency Management Agency responded and after putting on hazmat gear, determined the barrel contained a non-hazardous cleaning fluid. The company the barrel belonged to was expected to retrieve it today.
