NAMES OF TWO KILLED IN HEAD ON CRASH WITH TRACTOR-TRAILER RELEASED
The Tennessee Highway Patrol this morning released the names of the two individuals that were killed in a head on collision in Cumberland County last weekend on Interstate 40. According to the preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Samuel “Demarcus” Foster of Kingston was traveling west in the eastbound lane of I-40 at the 333 mile marker when he collided head on with a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer around 5:30 a.m. last Saturday. Foster, and a passenger in the vehicle, 22-year-old Jessica Case of Knoxville, were killed instantly. The Mazda came to rest against a guard rail and the tractor-trailer hauling general groceries came to a stop against the cable barrier blocking the eastbound lanes. Troopers say both Foster and Case were not restrained at the time of impact. It is not known at this time why the vehicle was going the wrong way on the interstate at the time of the crash. The accident remains under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
