The deadline to submit letters of interest to serve as property assessor in Cumberland County was noon today (Thursday, July 8, 2021). Officials say 14 citizens submitted their names to be considered by the county commission in their upcoming meeting July 19, 2021.

The position came open after Lori Ann Powell passed away on May 20. Deputy property assessor Sandy Gilbert has been serving in her place until a successor is chosen.
