NASHVILLE MAN BLAMES APPARENT IMAGINARY FRIEND FOR CRASH
A Nashville man accused in a DUI-related crash is blaming his imaginary friend for the accident.
A Metro Police affidavit states 26-year-old John Couch was charged with driving under the influence Friday, after being seen standing by a liquor store at the intersection of Charlotte Avenue and Morrow Road.
An employee of a nearby eatery claimed a man matching Couchβs description had been driving under the influence. The witness also gave a license-plate number that matched the one on Couchβs vehicle.
When police asked Couch about the crash, he told them his friend was driving and fled the sceneβ¦ but he couldnβt provide any information about the alleged friend.
He refused to perform any of the standard field-sobriety tests, as well as implied consent when it was read to him.
Police say Couch also resisted arrest; two officers had to force him into a patrol vehicle
