NEW HIGHWAY 127 BRIDGE OVER CLEAR CREEK SEEMINGLY OPEN TO TRAFFIC
Drivers on US 127 have a new connection between Crossville and Jamestown after the long-awaited bridge over Clear Creek appears to have opened to traffic. A motorist traveling the highway posted yesterday that the new bridge is now open. While the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has not yet issued an official announcement, the development aligns with the agency’s earlier projections for project completion this year.
In updates posted in March and April, TDOT detailed recent construction efforts focused on critical site preparation work. Crews completed stream mitigation, installed ground stabilization measures around the bridge structure, and finished remaining rock cuts to establish the new roadway alignment on both the Cumberland and Fentress County sides of the project. Officials noted that once warmer temperatures arrived, paving of the new roadway would begin.
The bridge replacement and associated roadway improvements are designed to improve connectivity between the two towns. The project has been a significant infrastructure effort in the region, addressing an important crossing over Clear Creek along the US 127 corridor. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and watch for any remaining construction activity or signage until TDOT provides full official confirmation and details on the completed project.
