FORMER CUMBERLAND COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES EMPLOYEE INDICTED AFTER FALSIFYING TIMESHEETS
An investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office has led to the indictment of Adam Johnson, a former part-time employee of Cumberland County Emergency Medical Services (CCEMS) and a full-time employee of the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency (WCEMA), for falsifying timesheets and receiving at least $117,108.63 in compensation for time not worked. Investigators revealed that Johnson claimed 4,271.5 false hours at CCEMS, totaling $112,626.46, by reporting shifts that overlapped with his duties at WCEMA or lacked any supporting scheduling and patient care records.
He similarly received $4,482.17 from WCEMA for overlapping hours, alongside an additional $9,699.87 in questionable compensation that investigators could not verify due to inconsistent agency records. As a result of these findings, Johnson was indicted by a Wilson County Grand Jury on May 11, 2026, for theft over $2,500, official misconduct, and tampering with governmental records, followed by a Cumberland County Grand Jury indictment on June 16, 2026, for theft over $60,000, official misconduct, and tampering with records. In light of the fraud, Comptroller Mumpower emphasized the critical need for government officials to routinely verify employee timesheets to prevent such abuse.
