NEW LABOR DATA SHOWS CUMBERLAND COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT AT 6.5 PERCENT

New data released this afternoon by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development shows unemployment increases in nearly all of Tennessee’s 95 counties in January 2020.

Cumberland County was one of the highest unemployment rate recorded for the month at 6.5 percent. It was 5.2 percent the previous month. The ranking shows Cumberland County .01 percent higher that Sevier County which has high unemployment this time of year for their off season tourism.

In other counties in the coverage area, Bledsoe and Rhea County is 5.9 percent, Pickett County is 5.8 percent, Fentress County is 4.8 percent, Roane County is 4.7 percent, Morgan County is 3.5 percent.
