NEW LAW SAYS ALL TENNESSEE BUS DRIVERS MUST BE CPR CERTIFIED

On Monday, Governor Bill Lee signed the Heart to Heart Act which mandates that all bus drivers in Tennesse be CPR certified. They will be able to take a class, which is offered yearly like all teachers, which is free of charge.

Fourteen years ago, Rhonda Harrill lost her 13-year-old son, Jameson, who went into sudden cardiac arrest.  He passed away before paramedics arrived. She believes that if they would have had an automated external defibrillator or AED it could have helped save his life.  Harrill has worked for nearly a decade to change legislation that would require AEDs in all Tennessee schools. She then continued to see all school bus drivers in Tennessee have CPR certifications, and have some training in how to administer AEDs.
