On Friday, July 11, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., newly appointed Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Commissioner Will Reid will visit Rockwood Airport, marking one of his first official stops after assuming office on July 10.

This visit highlights the airport’s significance, with Rockwood Aviation set to provide an update on recent progress and future plans, including a $5.5 million new terminal funded by a $1.5 million grant and a $4 million appropriation secured by Senator Yager. Additionally, a $15 million investment by Rockwood Aviation and Massey Electric is driving major improvements, with excavation already underway for the Massey Hangar Development.

City Council and Airport Committee members are invited to attend this event, which will also include press coverage.

Reid, a respected transportation leader and Bartlett native, brings extensive experience as TDOT’s Chief Engineer and Deputy Commissioner since 2022, having contributed to TDOT’s 10-Year Project Plan and agency reorganization to enhance project delivery and efficiency.
