NEWS FROM THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION VIRTUAL MEETING HELD APRIL 2, 2020

The Cumberland County Board of Education met last night in a virtual environment and not face-to-face. As of now no decision has been made if schools will resume this year after April 24 when one of the governors executive orders is set to expire. Board members will revisit the topic after that date. No decision has been made so far regarding graduation dates for this year.

The school feeding program will change starting Monday (April 6, 2020). Students will still pick up meals at the same designated sites. But on Mondays they will get 3 days of breakfast and lunch and on Thursdays they will receive 4 days of breakfast and lunch. This will continue on a weekly basis to cut down on students and parents leaving their homes during the stay at home order.

Interviews with candidates for the director of schools position will hopefully be done after April 14 when the stay at home order is set to expire. If not, the interviews will have to be done virtually.

The school board also approved the 2020-2021 school calendar.
