NO MAIL DELIVERY OR FEDERAL SERVICES ON MONDAY FOR COLUMBUS DAY / INDIGENOUS PEOPLES’ DAY
Residents across the country can expect a pause in standard federal and postal services this Monday as the nation observes Columbus Day, also widely recognized as Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
The U.S. Postal Service will be closed for the holiday, meaning no regular mail delivery on Monday. However, private shipping and delivery carriers—including FedEx, UPS, and Amazon—will maintain normal operations.
In addition to mail services, federal offices, most banks, and select local institutions such as public libraries will be closed for the day. Residents are encouraged to check ahead for local facility hours.
The holiday continues to see a dual observance nationwide. While federal recognition honors Columbus Day, an increasing number of states and municipalities observe Indigenous Peoples’ Day in its place, reflecting ongoing discussions regarding the legacy of Christopher Columbus.
The next federal holiday following Monday’s observance will be Veterans Day on November 11.
