Fairfield Glade Police officers were called to the station for a walk-in construction fraud report. They talked to a woman and her husband who live on Greenwood Road Crossville TN 38558

She stated that they had Top Notch Tree Service come give a quote for some landscaping to be done around their house.  She stated the owners name was Christopher Sherrill.

Christopher Sherrill estimated the work would cost the couple $5000. The couple accepted the quote and the woman wrote a check  from her Bank account for $500 for a deposit. She gave officers a copy of the check and also provided a handwritten paper invoice and business card for Top Notch Tree Service.

She stated that her husband also gave Chris $500 in cash deposit, but has no receipt to prove this transaction. She stated that Top Notch Tree Service did come out and work for approximately 10 hours. She provided pictures of the area they had worked on the property. She stated after several attempts, they couldn’t get ahold of Chris at the number he gave them. The officers tried the number and also got no answer.

Chief Kate Self was in the lobby of the PD and used Google search and locate the suspect and his business on Facebook. When officers googled the business, they saw four complaints for failure to complete work.

Mr. Sherrill has been booked into the Cumberland County Sheriff’s office and charged with Theft up to $1000.00.
