NUMBER OF SHOOTINGS ON THE RISE IN NASHVILLE
The number of shootings has risen significantly in Nashville since this time last year. Eighteen people have been shot since last Wednesday in a dozen incidents. Five people have been killed and police have only made arrests in one of those homicides. Data provided by the Metro Nashville Police Department shows nearly 140 people have been shot this year – up 55 percent since last year. Fifteen of the victims were juveniles. The majority of the shootings have happened in the North Police Precinct.
