OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING THURSDAY NIGHT IN WHITE COUNTY
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting in White County Thursday night where a man was killed. A driver of a black pickup truck pulling a fully loaded trailer. The driver failed to stop for authorities in DeKalb County, and traveled for 17 miles. In the pursuit the driver, who has not been identified, rammed several law enforcement cruisers and injured three officers. During the incident, the tires of the truck began to flatten or came off causing a fishtail with items from the trailer spilling onto the road. Two officers fired into the truck in an attempt to stop it. The truck then ran off the roadway into an embankment and into trees. At the time of the report it was unclear whether the driver died from the crash or gunshots. The three deputies were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening wounds.
