OFFICIALS WITH WACKER SAY PLANT WILL CLOSE TO “INVESTIGATE EXPLOSION”

Officials with Wacker in Bradley County have released a statement that says the facility will be closing for possibly “several Months” as the investigation into a recent explosion at the plant continues. County EMA Director Troy Spence says that the explosion, which forced a shelter-in-place order for area residents and injured over a dozen people, damaged pipes. He went on to say that a small amount of chemicals continue to leak through condensation but that the public is not in any danger. Wacker’s release states that “restarting” will take several months and that workers will continue to assist with repairs and other site activities. The downtown will also be used to provide employees with advanced training courses.
