Roane County Road Superintendent Dennis Ferguson said Old Airport Road will remain closed at least thru most of next week (May 9-14, 2021) but hopefully be re-opened by next weekend (May 15-16, 2021). The heavy rainfall this past Tuesday and into Wednesday delayed the paving crews. They should be completed with the task weather permitting soon and guardrails will be installed next week. The road had to be closed back in early April following several deep cracks discovered on the roadway near the top of the mountain.
