Roane County Road Superintendent Dennis Ferguson said today (March 31, 2021) Old Airport Road running from near Rockwood up the mountain has been shut down because of the roadway being compromised by heavy rainfall. It will remain closed until after Easter. Ferguson stated weather permitting, crews will start repairs Monday, April 5, 2021 to get it back open as soon as possible. Motorists that use Old Airport Road regularly are asked to seek an alternative route.
