OLIVER SPRINGS WOMAN KILLED IN ACCIDENT IN CLINTON
An Oliver Springs woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident Thursday morning on Laurel Creek Road in Clinton. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that 61-year-old Betty J. Webster of Oliver Springs was traveling east when her 2004 Ford Taurus drifted off the right side of the road and into a culvert. The car became airborne and struck a tree before flipping and coming to rest on it’s top. The investigating trooper stated that Webster was poorly restrained with the belt’s shoulder strap under her left arm. He indicated that if the seatbelt had been worn correctly, the outcome may have been different. Drug and alcohol tests were ordered but are not believed to be the cause of the crash.
