ONE DEAD IN SHOOTING AFTER KNOXVILLE DOMESTIC ARGUMENT; SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

An argument Monday evening between a woman and her ex-boyfriend at 155 Felix Road in Knoxville ended with another man being shot and killed. The Knoxville Police Department says the woman’s ex-boyfriend assaulted and choked her to the point of unconsciousness.

That’s when Kelton Crawford came to her aid – and lost his life in the process. Police say 30-year-old John A. Taylor shot Crawford, then ran from the scene. Crawford was taken to U.T. Medical Center, where he died.

Knoxville police took Taylor into custody late Monday night without incident. Taylor was charged with one count of first-degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated domestic assault. He was placed under $625,000 bond in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility.
