OVER 62,000 MAKITA GREASE GUNS RECALLED FOR LACERATION HAZARD

On September 4, 2025, Makita U.S.A., Inc. announced a recall of approximately 62,927 Makita Professional Cordless Grease Guns (models XPG01S1, XPG01SR1, XPG01Z) and Makita Grease Gun Hoses (models 191A79-9, 191A80-4, 191W58-9, 191W59-7) due to a laceration hazard. The flexible grease gun hose can develop a hole, causing grease to be ejected during use.

The affected products, identified by specific serial number ranges and model numbers located on the grease gunโ€™s manufacturer label and battery mounting port, were sold at hardware and home improvement stores nationwide and online from June 2020 to January 2025 for $60 to $390.

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled grease guns and hoses immediately and contact Makita at 800-462-5482 (8 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday), via email at [email protected], or through www.makitatools.com/recall for a free replacement hose.

Five incidents of hose failure, resulting in five laceration injuries, were reported globally, all outside the U.S. The products were manufactured in China and imported by Makita U.S.A., Inc., of La Mirada, California. The recall number is 25-455.
