OVERNIGHT HIGH SPEED PURSUIT IN MONTEREY ENDS WITH AN ARREST
Early this morning (Sunday, June 21, 2020), Monterey Police Officer Andrew Phillips observed a gold Lexus drive by a stop sign and traveling at high speeds in the area of W. Commercial Avenue and Livingston Highway. Officer Phillips attempted to stop the vehicle operated by 32-year-old Ryan Christopher Durham for reckless driving but Durham reportedly refused to stop. Officer Phillips engaged in a pursuit with Durham that quickly reached speeds up to 115 m.p.h. Police say Durham at one point turned off his lights and began driving in the opposite lane. The chase ended on Curtis Norrod Road where Durham surrendered without further incident. He was charged with reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest, driving on a suspended driver’s license and simple possession of drugs. Durham was taken to the Putnam County jail. Monterey police wish to thank the Overton County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance.
