OVERTURNED TRUCK SPILLS PLYWOOD ALONG I-40 EXIT RAMP
Just before 11:00 a.m. yesterday, a tractor-trailer loaded with plywood turned over as the driver reached the eastbound on-ramp at I-40 exit 347.
The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. Plywood was scattered all across the eastbound on-ramp from northbound 27 and southbound 27 on-ramp, however, the westbound off-ramp was not affected.
The highway patrol is investigating the crash and will look to determine what caused the driver to lose control. This is the second such accident in the last year.
Harriman Fire Department officials were on the scene to help keep the flow of diesel fuel from the overturned truck’s tanks and it took several hours to get the accident cleared up due to having to reload the plywood onto another rig and then getting the rig upright from the ramp and hauling it away.
