While conducting surveillance on a suspected drug house Thursday afternoon, Wayne County, Kentucky, deputies noticed a man and woman leaving the residence in a car. The driver, 33-year-old Dustin R. Southwood of Monticello, who was known to have a suspended license, refused to permit a search of the vehicle during a traffic stop. The passenger, 28-year-old Tarisha G. McGinnis, also of Monticello, admitted to having narcotics on her person.

Deputies deployed K-9 Lyon, who conducted an open-air sniff on the vehicle and alerted on the driver’s door area. Deputies seized 10.5 grams of meth, syringe loaded with meth, a Suboxone pill, a set of digital scales, baggies and $215 in cash.

Deputies arrested McGinnis for first-degree trafficking in meth, second-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; Southwood was charged with first-degree possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and a citation for excessive window tinting.

Both McGinnis and Southwood were held in the Wayne County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
