PAROLE HEARING HELD FOR WOMAN CONVICTED IN DEATH OF FEMALE IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

A parole hearing took place this morning for a woman convicted in the death of a Cumberland County female in 1982.
District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway of the 13th judicial district says Sharon Elise George was 18-years-old when she was murdered.
Linda Cross hired her co-defendant to kill George. Cross participated in the disposal of Sharon’s body in a shallow grave.
Dunaway said Sharon was abducted and her throat cut. When that did not kill her, her murders put her in a automobile trunk and took her to a Cumberland County location where she was shot and buried.
A hunter found Sharon’s remains nine years later.
At the hearing this morning, Sharon’s family members spoke out against the board granting parole to Linda Cross. Dunaway also spoke in opposition to an early release for Cross.
Cross is serving a life sentence.
After the hearing, the board member presiding cast his vote to deny parole.
The remaining board members will cast their votes soon.
Dunaway asks the public to please pray for the Sharon George family.
