A movie titled “Trap City” will be released soon and part of it was filmed at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina.

David Hunter with Rockin The Rock Productions contacted hospital owner and Crossville native J.J. Presley to see if the facility could be used. Presley approved the request.

Actor Omar Gooding, who is the brother of Academy Award winning actor Cuba Gooding, Jr., stars in the movie about a rapper working for a drug kingpin, and records a song that becomes viral. His fame intensifies because of his crime, but after an attempt on his life, he faces the choice of going to prison and destroying his career or to face the dangerous situation of testifying against a dangerous crime boss who will not fail a second time.

Presley also has a role in the picture. He plays a doctor in the emergency room. Charlie Price also appears as a nurse.

Another purpose for shooting the film there at the hospital is to bring attention to Clay County and Celina and show the facility, that is currently closed, is much needed in the community. In any emergency, a patient will have to be transported at least 30 minutes away and that time spent could mean the difference between life and death.

“Trap City” director Ricky Burchell told 105.7 News the movie is in the editing process now then will go to the sound department. A release date for “Trap City” will be announced soon.

Another movie titled “Eating Me Up” will be filmed soon and Burchell hopes to use areas in the Upper Cumberland for scenes.
