Cumberland County deputies and medics responded to the 7,000 block of Genesis Road early last night for a single vehicle accident. The report states the driver, 45-year-old Ghanshyam Somdas Patel of Fentress County, told a deputy he looked down on his cell phone to find the location of a road right before the crash happened. The officer not only told him there is a law prohibiting the use of a hand held cell phone while operating a vehicle but smelled an odor of alcohol coming from Patel. He was charged with DUI after reportedly failing a sobriety test and taken to jail.
