Patricia Geraldine (Lane) Blackmore, 83
Our dear mother, grandmother, and friend, Patricia Geraldine (Lane) Blackmore passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83 on March 2, 2025. Pat is now and forever in the arms of her beloved Chuck, square-dancing to her heart’s content.
She was born in 1941, in Sevierville, Tennessee, the daughter of Ida S Hixon and John L Lane. She was the youngest of six and a survivor of Rheumatic Fever. She graduated from Farmville High School in 1959 and Longwood College in 1962 with a degree in Business. After college, Pat worked in a fun variety of settings as a waitress, campground host, owner of a skate rink, owner and founder “Playland” daycare center in Oak Ridge, and finished out her working years with National Economic Research Associates (NERA) in Washington, D.C. Pat bounced back and forth between Virginia and Tennessee her whole life, always drawn back to her Appalachian roots.
Pat married the love of her life, Charles John Blackmore, on June 9th, 1984. They met in DC and retired in Tennessee spending their time square dancing, traveling, and tending their land. She was a member of the Three Rivers Ramblers and Secret City Squares Dance Clubs and served as the President of the Council of East Tennessee (CET) Square and around Dance Club for years and created the CET Database. She lost Chuck to lung cancer on January 1, 2015, but remained in Oak Ridge where she was an avid square dancer and a member of Central Baptist Church where she loved to volunteer for Vacation Bible School.
Pat is survived by her relatives Kevin (Jean), Kayla, and Elaine; Kim (Rick); Tina (Bob), Greta, and Michelle; and Chuck (Alissa) and Sarah.

Oh Lord, my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God, how great thou art
Then sings my soul, my savior God, to thee, How great thou art (How great thou art) , How great thou art (How great thou art)
Then sings my soul, my savior God, to thee
How great thou art, How great thou art”
