Last night, just after midnight, a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian on I-40 westbound near the Harriman-Rockwood exit in Roane County.

The victim, identified as Michael Bullard from Harriman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Harriman Fire Department, police, rescue squad, and Tennessee Highway Patrol responded, temporarily closing the interstate. One lane was later reopened.

The Roane County Medical Examiner, Dr. Boduck, ordered the body to be transported to Roane Medical Center. The investigation is ongoing, with limited details released at this time.
