The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on I-75 in Loudon County early this morning. A preliminary crash report states a 2019 Dodge pickup driven by a female from Kentucky was traveling south at the 74 mile marker just before 4 a.m. when 42-year-old Melissa Chaffins of Knoxville walked out into her path. Chaffins died from injuries sustained. No one else was hurt in the accident. No charges were filed in the incident.
