The Tennessee Highway Patrol and medics recently responded to the 59-mile marker of I-75 in McMinn County after a pedestrian walked into the path of a tractor-trailer.

Troopers say a 2012 Freightliner operated by 42-year-old Mandinder Singh Gill of Canada was traveling south around 8:30 a.m. when 61-year-old John A. Sanders suddenly walked from the side of the interstate and into the path of the tractor-trailer.

Gill could not stop in time and struck Sanders.

Sanders passed away from injuries sustained.

The report did not indicate any charges filed.
